Best Places to Visit in Burano

Burano is a small place and the best way to enjoy it is to simply take inspiration from the city and get lost in its streets – you won’t get lost for long and wandering aimlessly is incredibly relaxing. If you are looking for a colorful destination, then Burano is the right choose. However, if you’re short on time or want to make sure you see Burano’s top sights, here are the best things to do.

 The colorful houses of Burano

The main reason people come to Burano is because of the beautiful and picturesque colored houses in the city, and they are indeed a delight! When you get off the ferry from Venice or Murano, you will see a first group of them right in front of you and the rest of the city has many more. All houses have different facade colors, so it is best enjoyed looking at several of them or even the two sides of a canal flanked by brightly colored walls.

Casa di Bepi

Casa di Bepi! A special house worth seeing is a house, the so-called “Casa di Bepi”. Instead of just one color, thanks to the painstaking work of its owner, the house is decorated with many! You can see Casa di Bepi in Corte del Pistor in the city center of Burano.

 Worth knowing:

The main tradition of Burano seems to have its roots in the fishing nature of the town. The ability to sew arose from the need to fix fishing nets and gradually became a royal art that gained international fame in the 14th century and is still going strong.

 Piazza Galluppi

Burano has only one square, Piazza Galluppi, which is nice and big. There are several cafes, lace shops and plenty of space for children to run around here, which we really enjoyed when we visited Venice with the children and spent the afternoon in Burano. Here we have a cup of hot tea and Buranelli, a nice stop that I can recommend!

 The Leaning Tower of Burano

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is much more famous than this, but Burano has a leaning tower and it is worth seeing! You can see it behind the colorful rows of houses, a perfect opportunity to capture the essence of Burano!
